“It’s so much more efficient having a tutor that’s literally a click away in the comfort of your own home where you’ve got all your books around you and you’re in your own environment.”

Ashoorina, Year 12 Legal Studies and Modern History

“Being a HSC student, it’s so stressful and you kind of want this protection just to help you get through it.”

Why did you choose online tutoring with Tutornova?
In the past I’ve had a tutor to go to their house. It’s helpful to a certain extent but then it become very stressful because with so many subjects, you have to go and take time out of your day and find a way to travel to the tutor. I think that it’s so much more efficient having a tutor that’s literally a click away in the comfort of your own home where you’ve got all your books around you and you’re in your own environment. I think it’s just so much more efficient.

What are the top benefits of online tutoring?
Definitely saving a lot of time travelling to and from a tutor, how easy and convenient it is to share documents and having your tutor go through your work, it’s definitely made me lot more confident leading up to the HSC.

How has online tutoring saved you time?
I’ve saved a lot of time by jumping online and speaking directly to a tutor. First of all, you’re set up in your workplace, you’ve got all your books and your mind is just so focused. Whereas if you have to drive to you’re tutor, it just takes up so much time.

What do you parents think of you doing online tutoring?
My parents also really like this online tutoring concept. They also think it’s saved a lot of time for them. It’s so much more convenient. My mum doesn’t have to drive me to every tutor. Because I’m doing Modern History and Legal Studies, it would have taken up a lot of time, so my parents definitely think it’s really efficient as well.

Have your marks improved?
I definitely think my marks have improved and are going to improve in the HSC because of the tutoring I’ve been getting at Tutornova. Like Modern History for example, I was borderline on a Band 4 to 5, and I definitely think in the HSC I’ll be able to push into the Band 5 range and maybe even Band 6. And even with Legal Studies, especially my rank I definitely think it will improve a lot after the HSC.

Did you have any hesitations about online tutoring before using our service?
Before joining Tutornova, I though the online process would be slow, there’d be connection problems and it would be very hard to communicate with the tutor, but after having many lessons with my tutors I definitely think it’s really easy and it works really, really well. It is so much easier than having to go see someone because the platform that we use to talk with the tutor is just like seeing a normal personal tutor in person, but so much better.

How has your tutor played the role of a mentor?
My tutors have definitely played their role as a mentor because they’ve helped me not only grasp an understanding of the concepts that you need for the HSC, but also how to apply it and how to answer questions. And any worries you have generally about the HSC and what they may ask or the nature of the questions, they’ve been very helpful in making me more comfortable leading up to the HSC.

Would you recommend Tutornova?
I would highly recommend Tutornova to everyone, especially those who are highly ambitious and really want to achieve the top Band 6. The tutors are really helpful in helping you apply your knowledge, answer the questions and to really achieve the top marks… that everyone wants, obviously! Like being a HSC student, it’s so stressful and you kind of want this protection just to help you get through it. And I think it makes it so easy and so much less stressful. I would definitely highly recommend Tutornova.

“I wish I had discovered it earlier. If it has been so effective within a short amount of time, if I had been consistent with it on a week-to-week basis over a longer period, I can’t imagine how much I would have improved.”

Zane, Year 12 Advanced English

“My tutor definitely cared about my work, my HSC and me.”

What did you love most about online tutoring with Tutornova?
Before getting tutored, I had a fair few essays I had prepared for the HSC. I’d worked on the best I could and thought there’s no way I could do any better than this. But since getting HSC English tutoring, I can definitely notice there’s a higher quality standard that I can achieve, almost as if I’ve been opened up to a whole new level of sophistication with my essays.

What featured did you like most about our service?
Through the video chat you definitely have the face-to-face connection. That was really handy. And also Google Docs, being able to leave comments on your essays, and specific areas highlighting… it was also was really, really helpful.

Did you have any hesitations about online tutoring before using our service?
My main concern was not being in person, I thought that maybe with a loss of connection it’d be harder to communicate. But I found the opposite actually! It was easier to communicate with the several programs.

How has your tutor played the role of a mentor?
My tutor definitely cared about my work, my HSC and me. It’s a whole another level of comfort having your tutor have a look through your essays …having one person go through all your work and really making sure it’s suitable for the HSC definitely eliminated some of my anxieties about bringing in quotes and work that wasn’t HSC quality. That fear is out of the way.

Have your marks improved?
Before my trials I was getting on average, a high C and about 75%. I feel like I can definitely push myself more than that in the HSC. I’m thinking I’ll at least get 85% and even push myself into a Band 6 into 90% if I apply myself in the exam. Beforehand, I felt like I’ve always had the potential. My tutor has really given me the tools to reach my potential.

The HSC is about to start. How do you feel?
With the HSC in 4 days it’s definitely a bit intimidating, but it’s a whole another level of comfort having your tutor have a look through your essays. Having one person go through all your work and really making sure it’s suitable for the HSC definitely eliminated some of my anxieties about bringing in quotes and work that wasn’t HSC quality. That fear is out of the way.

What are the biggest benefits you’ve experienced?
It’s definitely helped me out in a short time frame. I’ve improved in a short amount of time. And I wish I had discovered it earlier. If it has been so effective within a short amount of time, if I had been consistent with it on a week-to-week basis over a longer period, I can’t imagine how much I would have improved. So even if it’s a few weeks before the exam, go for it. And if it’s a few months away from the exam, I can only imagine the advantages would be even better.

How would you describe your online tutoring experience?
I would describe Tutornova as efficient, innovative and enjoyable.

Kawla, Year 12 Business Studies

After just 3 lessons, Kawla ranked 1st in her Year 12 cohort for her Business Studies assessment.

Why did you choose online tutoring with Tutornova?

Although I can drive and I have my P’s and I can go anywhere I want, tutoring was a big concern for me. And I would tutor like everyday or every second day, and online tutoring was the best for me. It was great I didn’t have to travel or take the time to get in the car and drive. It was just from home.

What are your goals after year 12?

My goals after year 12 is entering university and doing my dream course which is psychology. Doing the HSC and doing well in the HSC is really important to me as that guarantees me a good ATAR to enter psychology. And with online tutoring I actually got the information of how to organise my time in exams and that also helped me think about how I can do this for all the exams that I have.

How has your tutor played the role of a mentor?

It was a great experience and it was on a personal level where he would ask me about my goals and what I wanted to do. And he would also provide me advice and information on how he got to achieve what he wanted in life and that was a great inspiration to me.

How has online tutoring saved you time?

When you have exams you don’t have a lot of time, you have to use your time wisely, and choosing online tutoring for HSC helped me with that. I had a lot of time in my hands to study at home. To just open my laptop and get all the information I needed. And when I’m done and tired, I don’t have to travel all the way home. You just close your laptop and finish studying.

The HSC is about to start. How do you feel?

My Business Studies exam is a week from now. I’m actually super excited, and most people would be really nervous. But I’m super excited! I’ve got that confidence and of how to deal with an exam. I am more relaxed, especially with my previous experience. It was great. I did very well. I’m really proud.

My experience with online tutoring was excellent, inspiring and very easy. I really loved it. I got a lot of information. I got excellent tutors and gained a lot of information just from home. Easy!

Would you recommend Tutornova?

I really recommend this to students who are already doing well at school, because there is still room for improvement and there’s always those little marks that would get you to 100. And you need that. You need the extra information and those little gaps filled in.

“It saves me time and with the tools, Emily is in a familiar environment with all her books around her and it just works fantastically.”

Sarah, Parent of Year 12 Advanced English Student

“It’s really fantastic and will save a lot of hours in the car.”

Why did you choose online tutoring with Tutornova?

The reason that we decided to get tutoring in Advanced English for Emily was that her results had deteriorated and she was very keen to do very well in the final preliminary exams. Remote tutoring was very attractive to me because I work full time and it gave Emily the opportunity, or gave me the opportunity not to organise to get her to tutoring and certainly saves her a lot of time.

Did you have any hesitations about online tutoring before using our service?

I wasn’t absolutely sure that it would work. But it is absolutely fantastic. It saves me time and with the tools, Emily is in a familiar environment with all her books around her and it just works fantastically.

Would you recommend Tutornova?

I’d recommend Tutornova to everyone. All parents whether they’re working full time or not are usually very busy. The quality of the tutors is excellent. And I just can’t see how you could go wrong. Kids spend so much time using social media and I think are probably actually more comfortable with the idea of online tutoring than adults. I think you as a parent should give it a go. It’s really fantastic and will save a lot of hours in the car.
