I became a Tutornova Mentor because…

I love witnessing my students discover more to their potential than they ever thought possible, then going on to fulfil their lifelong ambitions. Seeing my students blossom, not only academically but personally, as they uncover new-found confidence in themselves is incredibly rewarding. I’m also a firm believer that a successful private tutoring experience comes down to finding the right mentor.

One piece of advice for students with big dreams is….

Set big dreams, for anything is possible. But dreams don’t work unless you do.

I’d describe my teaching style as…

Methodical and attentive, yet relatable and empathetic. We’ll start off by defining your personal goals for study success, then reverse engineer a plan of attack to get you there.

My biggest challenge in Year 12 was…

Maintaining the stamina of the hustle without burning out.

I overcame this challenge by…

Treating Year 12 like a marathon, not a sprint. Work the process, not the result. Managing my time and energy (both mental and physical) in order to maintain peak performance was key.

If I could go back in time to when I was in high school I would tell myself…

While your ATAR is not the ‘be all and end all’ to your future success, you will never regret putting in 100% effort.

I keep motivated through hard times by…

Keeping perspective. What can be labelled as ‘hard’ is relative. I keep my vision front of mind, embrace the grind and remind myself that nothing will be harder than dealing with the pain of regret. So there’s nothing to lose! I also review my life goals quarterly to maintain motivation and plaster my vision board with favourite quotes and affirmations.

My philosophy is…

One life. There is no dress rehearsal!

My favourite productivity tool or app is…

Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets…) – I use it to organise my entire life, from my calendar and to-do list, to file organisation and document collaboration.

When I’m not teaching, I’m usually…

Enjoying being a new mummy, eating leftover baby food, drinking extra hot chai lattes and creating cool content for Tutornova.
