I became a Tutornova Mentor because…
Students shouldn’t have to travel far or attend prestigious schools to have great teachers.
One piece of advice for students with big dreams is….
If you never push yourself beyond what they teach you at school, you will likely never get anywhere. Get out there, do your own research and think outside the box!!
My biggest challenge in Year 12 was…
Confronting disappointing exam results that didn’t seem reflective of my effort.
I overcame this challenge by…
Forgetting the unchangeable past, trying my best for the next task and enjoying what I learnt.
I’d describe my teaching style as…
Comprehensive yet different to school teachers; emphasizing understanding over marks and how things relate to our everyday lives.
If I could go back in time to when I was in high school I would tell myself…
Stop spending so much time on Youtube and Facebook!
I keep motivated through hard times by…
Relaxing in my local park, playing sport with friends and listening to classical music. Reset when you are feeling burnt out and you will be able to keep going after.
My philosophy is…
Enjoy what you learn. Marks come as a bonus.
My favourite productivity tool or app is…(and why)
Pomodoro timer. With the app, I can split up my study into 25-40 minute chunks followed by 5-15 min breaks, which prevents me from losing concentration or tiring. It also helps me combat procrastination as I need only work for 25 min at a time.
When I’m not teaching, I’m usually…
Playing the piano, listening to classical music, playing soccer, running, reading National Geographic, watching Ted-Ed videos and talks and learning more about maths/physics.
